About Us

We opened Elms Veterinary Surgery in Monmouth in September 2007 seeing a need in the Monmouthshire area for a vets practice dedicated solely to the care of pets and companion animals.  We are a different breed of veterinary surgery - read on to see what we can offer you...

Clinical Care you can depend on when it is most needed...

When your pet is unwell you need a team of dedicated clinicians who will diagnose and treat your animal using up-to-date techniques and equipment, in a clean and stress free environment.  Our bright, beautiful building, located close to the A40 in Monmouth, is equipped with the full range of diagnostic equipment, however, at Elms Vets, we believe this is the very least you should demand of your vet.  in addition we ensure that excellent clinical care is always matched with a compassionate and considered approach.

Working with you to ensure health and well-being for your animal...

We place great emphasis on ensuring the ongoing health of your pet throughout its life.  This side of the practice is so important that many services are offered free of charge to encourage uptake.  Is this too good to be true?  No! We find the investment of our time in this way is rewarded in the great relationship it builds between us and our owners.  Elms Vets is a different breed of practice!

Pets in their wider context...

At Elms we also recognise the different roles animals play in our lives.  Many of the animals we look after are family members, others are working animals or sometimes a pet can be the closest, or only, companion a person may have.  Everybody's animal is different and we know how important it is that these differences are recognised.  Our vets and practice staff will take the time to get to know you, allowing us to meet your needs most accurately.

Kate qualified from Cambridge Veterinary School in 2004. She is also a clinical psychologist and worked in the NHS for seven years before training to become a vet. Terry Dixon - Elms Vets Monmouth Terry Dixon  BEng (Hons)
Practice Manager
Terry has been involved in the development of the practice since its very beginning. In May 2010 he came to work here full time and manages the accounts and day to day running of the practice. In his free time you may see him running, cycling and swimming in various muddy ponds around the county partaking in triathlons.

Vets in Monmouth - Elms Vets Dominic Johnson BVetMed MRCVS
Locum Veterinary Surgeon
Since Elms is such a small and cohesive team it is essential that, in Kate’s absence, a familiar face who really knows our clients is around. Dominic has provided all Kate’s cover over the last 18 months. He therefore knows Elms Veterinary Practice well and specialising in emergency medicine and surgery, is a huge asset to the team, keeping in touch with cases even when he’s not here. Dominic is another running fanatic and doting owner of Flint a border collie.
